Creating useful products for people’s lives

Mr. Bui Quang Huy, CEO of Rikkei Japan, has been featured on The Human Story. We've got a great summary for you below.

Introduction

Bui Quang Huy was born and raised in Vietnam. In 2009, while studying at the Hanoi University of Science and Technology, he received a scholarship at Ritsumeikan University and became one of the first students of the information technology human resource development program by JICA (Japan International Cooperation Agency).

After returning to Vietnam, Mr. Huy and his friends who studied at Ritsumeikan University and Keio University established Rikkeisoft Co., Ltd in 2012 – a software development company.

Ricky Co., Ltd., a Japan subsidiary of Rikkeisoft, was established in 2016, and Mr. Huy was appointed as CEO in 2019.

Ricky Co., Ltd.'s primary business is software development, receiving projects from clients in Japan and the United States. Since 2019, the company has also been focusing on developing its own products/services, especially in the field of artificial intelligence (AI) and robotics.

The Interview

How did you get your current job?

After finishing two years studying in Japan, I returned to Vietnam and founded Rikkeisoft with five classmates. The origin of the company’s name "Rikkei" is inspired by the names of Ritsumeikan University and Keio University, where the Rikkeisoft founders studied in Japan.

During the first years of working at Rikkeisoft, I held the position of COO in Vietnam. In 2016, we established a legal entity in Japan, and I was in charge of the business here.

Rikkeisoft has grown rapidly and now has more than 1,200 employees, so we can research and develop a variety of different technology platforms and systems.

The language barrier factor is inevitable in overseas business development, but this is not a big problem for us. Many of our engineers can speak Japanese. Moreover, many engineers at Rikkeisoft have studied or lived in Japan, and they are familiar with the culture and working process. Therefore, our strength is the ability to communicate fluently in Japanese.

Commitment to work

We started our business with the desire to prove to friends around the world the Vietnamese people’s ability to create great things.

In the future, we will cross the boundary between Vietnam and Japan towards the goal of exchanging personnel and building a global ecosystem. And I will also try to hone my skills to keep up with the times.

In addition, the image recognition application released by Rikkei.AI – a subsidiary of Rikkeisoft – can distinguish Vietnamese banknotes and support the lives of people with disabilities. The application is non-profit, and this is how we contribute to the community.

Rikkei.AI helps build and develop solutions, applying high technology such as eKYC, chatbots, speech-to-text, social media listening, and more.

In the future, Rikkeisoft aims to reach the milestone of 10,000 employees, with Rikkei Co., Ltd. aiming to reach 1,000 people by 2025.

Message to young people

If you find a dream, I think it will come true.

It doesn’t take magic to make dreams come true. Do your best.

However, no matter how hard you try and how good you are, it is not enough.

We need support from others and our colleagues. Always take care of your friends.
